The
Combination Chiffoniere
Pool-Money Receiver And Marking Board
|
 |
 |
This
beautifully made piece was usually constructed from cedar and blackwood,
with vivid figuring on the chiffoniere doors and the fascias of the
life pool scoring section above. They were made as early as the 1870s
and were continued until the early 20th century.
This item allowed storage of balls and other accessories, featured
a small cellarette and allowed for the scoring of billiards and life
pool. Pool players' stakes were inserted into a locked glass fronted
container to ensure that no cheating was possible.
